Boston Globe Op-Ed

I forgot to check this out the day it was available for viewing online but for any Boston Globe subscribers, see the full op-ed here. An article that covers some uncommon items you can send through the USPS – apparently you can mail various kinds of live poultry and other small creatures. Next-day delivery.

RFT // Spring Arts Guide

Drawing for the Riverfront Times Spring Arts Guide. The original cover for the Arts Guide supplement fell through, so this guy was cropped and turned into the cover. Thanks Tom Carlson!!

Boston Globe

This article is about how when you watch a lot of television, things that are fictional / dramatized / total crap stick in your head and over time, you forget the source and it can seem real. The article is posted here today: http://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion

Washington Post!

Here's my first job for the Washington Post! It's a section cover and two spots for the local living section (I think it may have been in print this thursday?) It's about advice for parents whose kids are going back to school this fall; see the full article here (sans artwork.)

Something New!

Over the past many months I've been working on a wedding invitation project -- one of my oldest friends is getting married this summer! A couple of weeks ago the project was finally sent to the printer, assembled and mailed out. Congrats to Emily and Ronny!!!

New York Times / Parents as (poor) Facebook Friends

Very quick drawing for the New York Times, about a woman whose absent father friends her many years later on facebook along with other anecdotes about parents who fair poorly as facebook friends with their children.

San Diego Museum Month

Cover illustration for San Diego Union Tribune! It was for museum month in February --- so many amazing museums in San Diego, researching images for this project made me want to visit so badly.

Chicago Magazine / Head Lice!

Drawing for Chicago Magazine about how to deal with increasingly insidious HEADLICE!!! (apparently they are becoming increasingly resistant to over-the-counter medications; as an alternative you can visit a special salon that picks them out of your - or your child's - scalp one by one. EEK!)

Boston Globe Op-Ed - Farmstands

Another fun op-ed for the Boston Globe! In papers today (10.25) --- it is about encouraging people to visit farm stands that have a lot of great, local produce, while remaining skeptical of some the other current trends in food. Read the full article by Steve Moore here, below is my favorite section:

"At a party up in Vermont we saw all this at work. The hors d’oeuvres were pretty much gatherers’ delights: tabbouleh, hummus, eggplant spread, no hunters in the crowd. One woman offered salt-free parsnip and celeriac surprise. There were cold noodles in squid ink and countless pasta salads. Everyone was on the lookout for personal toxins: gluten, meat, dairy, nuts. Curiously, in aggressively healthy Vermont, everyone seemed afflicted."
